Chandigarh (12.05.2026): The Haryana government has
authorized the CBI to question five IAS officers regarding a ₹590 crore bank
fraud involving siphoned state department funds. Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi (IAS: 1990: HY) cleared the
request and the file is currently awaiting final sign-off from the Chief
Minister’s Office. The officers are suspected of facilitating the opening or
operation of fraudulent bank accounts, conspiring with racketeers, or
benefiting from the proceeds. The CBI has already arrested 15 suspects, including bank
executives and four now-sacked government officials. Senior officials confirmed
the move but declined further comment to avoid hampering the ongoing
investigation, which was handed to the CBI last month.
