With over half a dozen states, UT and experts requesting the Centre to extend lockdown that the country is undergoing at the moment in view of Coronavirus scare, the government is mulling over it. Consultation at various levels and stakeholders is on how to go about it. However, no final decision has been taken so far but it is indicated that it might be extended for two more weeks but certain more activities will be relaxed with utmost caution and without making any compromise.

States like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Telengana, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Rajasthan need some more time under lockdown to deal with the COVID-19 menace. India is currently under the 21-day lockdown since March 25, with only essential services exempted to contain the fast-spreading virus.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on March 24 announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown as a precautionary measure to control the spread of the coronavirus. India’s tally of coronavirus positive cases rose to 5194. Out of the 5,194 cases, 4,643 are active cases while 402 have recovered or discharged and one has migrated. The total toll stands at 149.
