Gadkari’s request to MoS Personnel: Expedite the pending promotions of CSS cadre officers

2087Union Cabinet Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday wrote a letter to Dr Jitendra Singh, Union MoS for Personnel, requesting to expedite the promotions of Central Secretariat Service (CSS) officers that is pending for last few years. Gadkari in his letter says ‘I have been apprised that they (CSS cadre officers) have not been given promotion due to pending litigation while they fulfill all eligibility conditions and a large number of vacancies also exist. Their grievance is amplified due to the fact while promotions in other services are being given on a regular basis, officers of CSS cadre are facing stagnation at different levels”. Gadkari in his letter cited OM dated 30.03.1988 issued by DOPT itself which categorically provides for promotions to the vacant posts on ad-hoc basis subject to the outcome of the court case if litigation is pending in the court of law.
