New Delhi (22.09.2022): If some well-placed sources are to be believed the New Delhi establishment may pick a senior domain expert/scientist for the post of Chairman, Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI); a coveted post that fell vacant after former Commerce Secretary Mrs. Rita Teotia (Retd IAS:1981:GJ) completed her three years term in November last year.
Initially, the name of a retired IAS officer was recommended for the Chairman post but reportedly, the top authority wanted a scientist or a domain expert to head FSSAI.
Sources say the name of the scientist (Director of an institute under CSIR) has already been recommended. The ACC is expected to clear the name shorty.
Presently, Rajesh Bhushan, Union Secretary for Health & Family Welfare Secretary, is holding the additional charge of Chairman, FSSAI. .
