Lucknow (18.12.2025): Generating employment in view of 2027 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government has appointed Prashant Kumar (Retd IPS: 1990: UP) as the Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) six months after his retirement as state DGP.Prashant Kumar’s tenure will be for three years. He will head the commission responsible for the recruitment of teachers in secondary and higher education in Uttar Pradesh. Professor Kirti Pandey was chairperson earlier who recently resigned.In 2024, the Uttar Pradesh government merged the Higher Education Service Selection Commission and the Secondary Education Service Selection Commission to form the UPESSC.
