Former UP Chief
Secretary Rajive Kumar (IAS:1981:UP) became the first full-time Chairman
of RERA whereas Balvender Kumar (IAS:1981:UP), former Union Mines Secretary and
former Vice-Chairman DDA, was appointed Member. In addition, Bhanu
Pratap Singh (Retd IPS) and Kalpana Mishra were also made Member of RERA in UP. Prior to this Principal
Secretary (Housing) Nitin Ramesh Gokaran (IAS:1990:UP) held the additional
charge of the post.
It may be underlined that Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) is
constituted under the The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016;
an Act of the Parliament of India which seeks to protect home-buyers as well as help boost investments in the
real estate industry.
