If some well-placed sources are to be believed N Sambasiva Rao (IPS:1984:AP) may shortly be named as new DGP. Currently he serves as CMD, Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation. A couple of days back most of the Andhra based news channels and newspapers covered the report widely that the outgoing DGP would be given extension beyond July 24, 2016. Like few other states Andhra Pradesh too has two-year fixed tenure for DGP post. Ramudu was scheduled to superannuate on 30 September 2014 but he was given the coveted post approx six prior to his retirement. N Sambasiva Rao will retire on 31 December next year but in case he is named as DGP in another two days he would have a tenure till July 2018.
