New Delhi (03.11.2025): The Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi has engaged Asok Kumar G, a retired 1991-batch IAS officer, as a Consultant in the Public Works Department (PWD). The engagement, announced on Monday by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, is initially for a period of one year but carries a provision for extension.
He retired last year after serving as the Mission Director of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG).
The appointment brings an officer to the PWD who is credited with pioneering one of the Central Government’s most impactful water conservation initiatives: the “Catch the Rain” campaign. This campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Water Day (March 22) under the flagship Jal Shakti Abhiyan and has been widely praised for its captivating public outreach.
The move to bring on a consultant with experience in large-scale Central Government missions signals a likely focus on strengthening strategic execution and project management within the Delhi PWD.
