Ex-Finance Secretary Pandey is back, NFRA gets Chairperson & two Full-time Member

5672New Delhi (09.03.2022): The NaMo administration on Wednesday appointed ABP Pandey (Retd IAS:1984:MH) as the new Chairperson of National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) a post which is lying vacant. Present Ashok Kumar Gupta, Chairperson, Competition Commission of India (CCI) holds the additional charge. Further, Praveen Kumar Tiwari (Retd IA&AS:1985) and Ms Smita Jhingrana (IRS IT) were also appointed as Full-time members, NFRA. Tiwari recently retired from the post of Deputy Comptroller & Auditor General (Dy CAG) whereas Ms Jhingran is working as Director General of Human Resources (DGHR), Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). Chairperson and Full-time members have been appointed for a period of three years or till the attainment of 65 yrs of age; whichever earlier. It may be underlined that Union Cabinet had approved the establishment of NFRA on March 02, 2018, has provisions for a Chairperson, three posts of full-time Members and one post of Secretary. NFRA is an independent regulator for the auditing profession which is one of the key changes brought in by the Companies Act, 2013. The inclusion of the provision in the Act was on the specific recommendations of the Standing Committee on Finance (in its 21st report).
