As expected, the government on
November 09 announced the empanelment of Sanjay Kumar Mishra (IRS:1984) to hold
an Additional Secretary rank post in the central government as a stand-alone
case. This is said to be a clear signal that Mishra may soon be announced as a
full-fledged Chief of Enforcement Directorate. He was, on October 26, appointed
the Principal Special Director with additional charge of Director, ED. Then it
was understood that had Mishra been eligible to hold Additional Secretary level
post he would have been named a full-fledged Director of ED instead of
interim-chief. Â It may be mentioned that his
batchmates would have to wait for some time for AS empanelment.
