New Delhi (19.04.2025): In relaxation of the IPS Tenure Policy the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) extended the tenure of Sonia Narang (IPS: 2002: KN), currently Special Director in the Directorate of Enforcement. Her tenure was extended for a period of one year beyond 06 April 2025In the first week of April, she was relieved from her post and no official reason was cited for her transfer back to her parent cadre in Karnataka.
While working as Additional Director she was in December 2022 promoted as Special Director in the Directorate of Enforcement and oversaw the central region and the Special Task Force (STF) of the ED. Earlier she handled high-profile cases, including investigations against PFI, Ambience Group, Vivo, IFFCO, Maoist-linked financial networks, Sukhpal Khaira, and the Khan Market money laundering matter.
Further, the Abhishek Goyal (IPS: 2005: KN) was extended for a period of one year beyond 18 March 2025 in relaxation of the IPS Tenure Policy. Currently, he is Special Director in the Directorate of Enforcement. Currently, he is working as Special Director of Enforcement (HIU).  It may be underlined that ahead of Maharashtra Assembly elections he was given the additional charge of Northern Region.
It may be underlined that the agency has nine Special Director posts, the second-highest rank after the ED Director.
