CBI Special Director Rupak Kumar Dutta (IPS:1981:KN) has been appointed Special Secretary (Internal Security) in Ministry of Home Affairs against a newly-created post. To make avenues for Dutta in apex scale a vacant post of Joint Secretary in MHA was upgraded to Special Secretary.
It is for the first time that two Special Secretaries would work in MHA for the crucial internal security division. Besides him, M K Singla (IPS:1982:KL) is already working as Special Secretary (Internal Security). It may be noted that Singla's retirement is due in another 60 days whereas Dutta will serve as SS (IS) till superannuation on October 31, 2017.
