DGP, Bihar: Three IPS officers in race; UPSC sends panel

Patna (16.12.2022): Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has sent the panel of three IPS officers to choose from the new DGP of Bihar as the incumbent DGP S K Singhal is retiring on December 19, 2022.The Bihar government had sent 11 names to the UPSC. Alok Raj (IPS: 1989: BH), RS Bhatti (IPS: 1990: BH)and Shobha Ahotkar (IPS: 1990: BH) are in the race for the coveted post. Raj and Bhatti will be retiring in December 2025 and September 2025, respectively while Ahotkar will retire in June 2026. Appointment of DGP is important in view of successive elections in 2024 and 2025.
