Patna (25.10.2025): Ever since the name of Tejashwi Yadav has been declared as the the chief ministerial candidate of Mahagathbandhan and Mukesh Sahni as the candidate for Dy CM, Muslims in Bihar erupted in protest on social media for neglecting the community. The debate of 14 per cent verses 18 per cent has gained impetus in the state at a time when elections campaigning is going on in full swing.
Muslim leaders from various political parties including All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen are leading the campaign by targeting the RJD and the Congress. The RJD responded by saying that this is a campaign sponsored by the BJP and the RSS. The fact of the matter is that any division in the Muslim votes in the state will help the BJP as despite all these narratives that the RJD and the Congress don’t give proper representation to Muslims, the community would not vote for the BJP at any cost.
These confusions and the message given all across that the community is being neglected, cheated and marginalised in Bihar by the same party that they had traditionally voted for may drive Muslims especially youths towards the AIMIM which had won five seats in 2020 Assembly elections only in the Seemanchal area of the state.
There are around 25-30 Muslim dominated Assembly constituencies in Bihar out of 243 and even 10 per cent vote shift from the RJD may disturb the political calculations of Mahagathbandhan. The man who is not at all welcomed in the grand alliance of Bihar Rajiv Ranjan aka Pappu Yadav wrote a post on X saying that the Congress in the leadership of Rahul Gandhi may press for a Muslim Dy CM and one Dalit Dy CM for social justice but no official announcement has been made from the Congress so far.
The RJD, which is in a fix over conceding to the demand of Vikassheel Insan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni by declaring him as Dy CM candidate, is trying to salvage the matter by mentioning that it has fielded maximum 18 Muslim candidates in comparison to the Janata Dal (United) which named 4 candidates. The Congress fielded maximum Muslim candidate per cent wise with 10 out of 60 candidate it fielded.
The way campaign is progressing, Muslim voting en mass is being doubted and any fragmentation in their vote bank may pull the rug beneath the feet of Mahagathbandhan.
