Raipur (15.01.2024): With Chhattisgarh DGP Ashok Juneja (IPS: 1989: CG) is all set to retire on February 5, 2025, the Chhattisgarh government will soon finalise a panel of senior IPS officers to be submitted for the appointment of the state police chief. Juneja got six months’ extension in August, 2024.
There are four front-runners for the post of DGP. The state government had submitted a panel with the names of three senior IPS officers to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), which was sent back with some queries. The panel comprised Arun Dev Gautam (IPS: 1992: CG), Pawan Deo (IPS: 1992: CG) and Himanshu Gupta (IPS: 1992: CG).
Speculation is rife that the name of G P Singh (IPS: 1994: CG), who was compulsorily retired in July 2023 but reinstated in service by the Ministry of Home Affairs a month ago, is likely to be included in the revised list of the panel. The names of SRP Kalluri (IPS: 1994: CG), Pradip Gupta (IPS: 1995: CG) might also be considered, as both will be completing 30 years of service by the first week of February. Currently, the Chhattisgarh police have four DGP-rank officers.
