As Indianmandarins had reported earlier (17 May 2018) the outgoing J&K Chief Secretary Bharat Bhushan Vyas (IAS:1986:JK) was given one year extension in service, beyond May 31, 2018. Vyas was due to superannuate on 30 November 2017 but he was given two extensions of three months each till 31 May 2018. Vyas may continue as CS till 31 May 2019.
Indianmandarins reliably learnt that the Centre (DoPT), last week, drafted special provisions allowing extension to J&K Chief Secretary (CS) beyond a period of six months under exceptional circumstances. But the total term of the state CS shall not exceed three years or up to the age of 62.
With regard to others states, a CS may be given extension in service, beyond the superannuating age (60 yrs), for a period not exceeding six months.
