New Delhi: The CBI, on Friday, in its special anti corruption drive conducted
over 150 joint surprise checks (JSCs) at suspected places of corruption in
various cities across the country. These raids were conducted jointly with the
vigilance officers of the concerned government departments, ministries and
other organisations. The JSCs are primarily conducted at such points and places of
corruption where common people or small businesspersons are affected in the
government machinery. This special drive will sensitize every stakeholder about
possible avenues of corruption that a common citizen faces while seeking
services from such departments. It also strives to identify and highlight points
and places vulnerable to corruption. Departments covered in today's JSCs includes -- Railways, coal
mines and coalfields, medical/healthcare orgainisations, customs, FCI, power,
municipal corporations, ESIC, transport, CPWD, directorate of estates, fire
services, sub registrar office, GST departments, Port Trust, National Highways,
DAVP, Airport Authority of India, public sector oil companies, DGFT, public
sector banks, ASI, Shipping Corporation, BSNL, steel PSU, mines & minerals. These JSCs will be followed by extensive campaign by the CBI to
make common citizens aware how to reach out to government departments to get
their complaints redressed. Various cities/towns where the JSCs are being
conducted included – Delhi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Guwahati, Shillong, Chandigarh,
Srinagar, Chennai, Madurai, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai,
Gandhinagar, Bhopal, Raipur, Nagpur, Jabalpur, Patna, Lucknow, Ghaziabad,
Dehradun, Ranchi, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Vijaywada, Cochin, Kollam,
Hanamakonda, Karimnagar, Chirmiri, Secunderabad, Katni–Bina, Vadodara, Himmat
Nagar, Dhanbad, Kasauli, Samastipur, Danapur and Mokama.
