The CBI has registered a case against former additional commissioner of Income Tax R Manjunathaswamy, for allegedly accepting a Rs 4-lakh bribe from a private company to favor it during scrutiny assessments.
The Bureau booked the IRS officer and the vice-president of Bangalore-based RNS Infrastructure Ltd Sunil Sahasrabuddhe for criminal conspiracy, cheating and prevention of corruption act.
Joint Director of Income Tax Vigilance Unit Sheila Parthasarathy had submitted a written complaint to the bureau regarding irregularities committed by R Manjunathaswamy, while posted as Range 3, Hubli additional commissioner of Income Tax, in the scrutiny assessment of RNS Infrastructure for Assessment years 2006-07 and 2007-08.
