Indianmandarins has gathered that Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma (IPS:1979:UT) would have brighter prospects of becoming successor to the outgoing CBI Director Anil Kumar Sinha (IPS:1979:BH) who is set to complete his tenure in another 30 days. In case the information turns out to be true the outgoing CBI chief would be handing over the baton to his batch-mate (1979 batch IPS).
However, if one goes by the names of the six shortlisted candidates, none appears to be less strong, although Verma and Rupak Dutta may be seen to be ahead in the race.
The six shortlisted officers are Krishna Chaudhary (IPS:1979:BH), DG, Indo-Tibetan Police; Alok Kumar Verma (IPS:1979:UT), Delhi Police Commissioner; Ms Archana Ramasundaram (IPS:1980:TN), DG, Sashastra Seema Bal; Rupak Dutta (IPS:1981:KN), Special Director, CBI; Ms Meeran C Borwankar (IPS:1981:MH), DG, Bureau of Police Research & Development; and Satish Chandra Mathur (IPS:1981:MH), DGP, Maharashtra.
