CAPF: Two officers’ tenure extended relaxing IPS tenure policy; two get new assignments

NEW DELHI (27.05.2026): The Centre has effected a minor reshuffle in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) with two officers getting one-year extension by relaxing IPS tenure policy while two other entrusted with new assignments. The names of these officers are as follows: 
  1. Tenure of Sonia Narang (IPS: 2002: KN), IG, CISF, has been extended for a period of one year beyond 06.04.2026, in relaxation of the IPS Tenure Policy.
  2. Tenure of Abhishek Goyal (IPS: 2005: KN), IG, CISF, has been extended for a period of one year beyond 18.03.2026, in relaxation of the IPS Tenure Policy. 
  3. Rakesh Balwal (IPS: 2012: MN) has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
  4. H Thanghaulien Gangte (IPS: 2003: MN) has been appointed as Inspector General in Border Security Force (BSF).
