As Union ministers continue to be on a publicity blitz, with two or three of them holding press briefings every day to publicise their achievements, an officer attached to a senior minister has an interesting tale to tell. It seems a day after two ministers held press conferences, this minister called up a senior functionary in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), wondering why he had not been informed about the decision asking all ministers to hold media briefings. When told that there was no such directive from the PMO, the minister, not willing to take chances, offered to hold a press conference nevertheless. To this, the PMO functionary simply said that it was up to him.
