Talks are doing rounds that the outgoing state DGP Mohan Lal Lather (IPS: 1987: RJ) may hang his boots a few months prior to his retirement and may get a political or a constitutional post. In such a situation, Lather will have to seek VRS. It is assumed that Gehlot may have a plan to draft Lather as chairman of the Inter-State Water Disputes Committee; a cabinet rank post that has been kept vacant for this reason or the other.

In the recent past also ML Lather’s predecessor and the then state DGP Bhupendra Singh Yadav had taken VRS to become the Chairman of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC). It is to be watched whether Lather follows the footsteps of his predecessor to grab a constitutional post.
