New Delhi (29.07.2023): National president of BJP JP Nadda has reconstituted his organizational team and it has certain surprising names with meaning and purpose. With 2024 being the Lok Sabha election year, the exercise is not only very important but crucial one when the BJP-led NDA has to counter the newly formed INDIA.
Total 13 vice presidents, nine general secretaries, 13 secretaries and one treasurer have been made part of the new team Nadda. There is one joint-organising secretary and one joint-treasurer. However, most of the names in the list are repeated in the new team but they too have electoral importance. Out of all the total office bearers, four names needs special attention and carry distinct political meaning. These leaders are vice presidents Abdullah Kutty, Laxmikant Bajpai and Tariq Mansoor; General Secretary Radhamohan Agrawal and Secretary Anil Antony, who is son of A K Antony.
While deciphering the meaning of these appointments, one must know that the BJP has been trying hard to penetrate into the masses of Kerala but all its past bids remained unsuccessful. So this time round, a section of Christian religious leaders are being approached by the BJP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and JP Nadda had met with them in Kerala recently. So an attempt is being made to get Christian votes who are fighting with radical Islamic organisations in Kerala like the BJP. But the BJP is also trying to balance it so that it doesn’t look like being anti-Muslim, so Kutty is there as vice president with Prime Minister’s Pasmanda outreach making the idea perfect. Besides leaders like Anil Antony, K J Alphons and Tom Vadakkan being part of the BJP office bearers, the community as such is cozying up with the party in Kerala. So if BJP manages even one or two seats in Lok Sabha from the state, it would be a huge satisfaction and achievement for it. The Party has strong support base in five Lok Sabha seats.
Bajpai and Mansoor will help the BJP to work in Brahmin community and Pasmanda Muslims in Uttar Pradesh which is targeting all 80 seats. One section, Brahmin, is slightly disappointed with the BJP but will still vote for it. Bajpai being sent to Rajya Sabha and appointed as Vice President will work as balm to Brahmins. But the most interesting appointment is of Radha Mohan Das Agrawal as general secretary, who is former MLA from Gorakhpur Urban and at present in Rajya Sabha, will help central leadership to take a better call in ticket distribution as general secretary of the BJP has executive power in the party. Sources informed that with Agrawal being appointed as general secretary, the central leadership will be able to keep a check on UP CM Yogi Adityanath.
So these appointments will have their impact on two states i.e. Uttar Pradesh from where the party is hoping the most out of 80 seats while from Kerala it hopes at least to open its account in Lok Sabha from Kerala. Telangana too is in the focus Bandi Sanjay Kumar is one of the General Secretaries.
