The 1987 batch Tamil
Nadu cadre IAS officer, Jasbir Singh Bajaj has moved the application for VRS
ten months ahead of his scheduled retirement on 31 July 2019. According to rules, he has
requested the Govt to relieve him from duties and responsibilities of the
service on the expiry of three months notice period beginning 01 October 2018.
Bajaj started his career with CBI and later in August 1987, he joined IAS. Currently, he is serving as
the Principal Resident Commissioner at Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi. It may be mentioned that
probably Bajaj has the longest tenure as Resident Commissioner/Principal
Resident Commissioner. Reportedly, he has served at TN House for over 17 years. It is said under
his supervision TN House became the first State Guest House to have ISO 9001
certification. Having six professional
degrees in Public Administration, Management and Law from reputed institutions,
Bajaj may pursue the legal practice. Interestingly, Bajaj's VRS
application is seen as one of the finest cases of a smooth transition as Bajaj
has already delegated almost all decisionmaking & executive powers to his
junior colleague N Murugandam (IAS:1991: TN) who too has been serving as
Principal Resident Commissioner, TN House.
