The AP Cabinet has resolved to bring an ordinance to amend the A.P. Police Act for appointing the Director General of Police (DGP) on its own.
Information and Public Relations Minister Kalava Srinivasulu told media persons that the DGP appointment would be, however, subject to the All India Services Act, 1953.
The state cabinet has also decided to bring about a comprehensive Police Act for the welfare of police forces.
Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that in all probability M Malakondaiah (IPS:1985:AP) may be named as new DGP of the state though state govt has been sending the gestures repeatedly to name N Sambasiva Rao (IPS:1984:AP) as full-time head of the state's police force (HoPF).
