The MHA has decided to use digital technology to combat the Naxal menace. For this purpose, it has appointed IRS officer Aman Kumar Singh to command and control digital battle. He has been appointed a member in Home Minister Rajnath Singh's led National High-level Committee for elimination of LW extremism.
Currently, Aman Singh is Chhattisgarh's Principal Secretary. His appointment, notified to the state government on last Saturday, was welcomed by the state government. He has played a significant role in the expansion of e-governance of IT Sector in the state.
The HM-led committee is made up of DGPs of Naxal-infested states and senior officers of the Centre and Home Ministry like DG CRPF and DG BSF.
Aman Singh's appointment to the HM's committee was necessitated by the fact that there was no IT expert on the committee. The absence of an IT expert on the committee was duly noted at a high-level meeting of Naxal-affected state Chief Ministers on May 8 at New Delhi. Officers of Union Home Ministry and state Police chiefs also took part in this meeting.
