The Public Sector Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) on Aug 09 selected Praveen Kumar Agarwal (GM, POSOCO) for the post of Director (Market Operation) Power System Operation Corporation (POSOCO); a fully independent CPSE (under Ministry of Power). POSOCO, carved out from PGCIL on 03rd January 2017, has five board-level positions which include; CMD, Director (Marketing), Director (System Operation), Director (Finance) and Director (HR). Of five positions PESB has already made its recommendation for four posts including Agarwal. K V S Baba (CEO, POSOCO) was on 24 May selected for CMD post whereas Ranjan Kumar Srivastava (ED, PGCIL) and Ms Meenakshi Davar (ED, PGCIL) were selected for Director (Finance) and Director (HR) respectively on July 07 and August 04. With the selection for the post of Director (System Operation) POSOCO will gain full sanctioned strength in Board-level positions. Formed in March 2010 on the recommendations of Girish B Pradhan Committee (the then AS in MoP) to handle the power management functions of PGCIL; POSOCO was a wholly owned subsidiary of PGCIL till 2 January 2017. Armed with 05 Regional Load Despatch Centres (RLDC) and a National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC), it shoulders the responsibility of ensuring the integrated operation of the Grid in a reliable, efficient manner.
