Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that as many as 40 IAS officers from the 1990 batch are expected to be empaneled to hold Additional Secretary or equivalent post in Govt of India. The 1989 and 1990 batch of IAS will follow senior batches. In the previous year, 1987 and 1988 batch of IAS were empaneled together but the limited avenues/posts in Secretary and Additional Secretary posts created a cascading effect in terms of posting and putting dozens of empaneled officers on wait for their turn following which it was widely believed that the administration may not go for empanelment of 1989 and 1990 batches together. But now it is learnt that as many 40 IAS officers of 1990 are being empaneled to hold Additional Secretary rank posts in Govt of India.
