New Delhi (12.06.2023):Nitin Agarwal, a 1989 batch IPS officer of Kerala cadre, was on Sunday night appointed as the new Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF).
Agarwal’s appointment came on a day the BSF began four-day border talks with its Bangladeshi counterpart Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Delhi. Currently, CRPF DG Sujoy Lal Thousen is holding the additional charge of BSF.. Thousen is leading the BSF delegation for the talks. The Bangladesh delegation is being led by BGB DG Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan.
Agarwal is currently posted as Additional Director General of Operations at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Headquarters in Delhi.
The post of BSF chief was lying vacant after the retirement of Pankaj Kumar Singh on December 31, 2022.
