a-story-of-acharaya-aiyar-and-his-disciple-rahul-g  M K Shukla Nehruite and G-family loyalist Mani Shankar Aiyar, who in his changed avatar from a foreign service officer to Congress MP tried to emulate Parliamentary eloquence and style of Lohiaite socialist George Fernandes and failed miserably, must have good reasons to smile and be happy. In his latest avatar as Acharaya of Rahul G, he has brainwashed the mid-aged young man with the philosophies of all lost causes. Even as the Congress heir apparent was waging his rhetoric against the NaMo administration, never mind the subjects, Aiyar was seen in Parliament's central hall glued to the TV screen watching the performance of his disciple. However impressed he might have been by theatricals of Rahul G, he also had his moments of silent embarrassemnet as the mid-aged young man could not help calling MNREGA NREGA, addressing presiding male chairman of Lok Sabha as "Mme speaker, Sir" and walking out immediately after completing his speech on motion of thanks to President, sending the house into a burst of laughter, compelling him to explain through gesture that he was leaving off to ease himself and would be back soon - which he did. Acharaya Aiyar might also feel proud of his disciple's performance. Because no less a person than Narendra Damodardas Modi is expected this afternoon in the debate on motion of thanks. He is expected (rumors have been rife in the media about it) to rebutt the charges made by the Congress leader of the light brigade. It's of course not necessary for him to do so. But like all his party colleagues, the Prime Minister has also developed an uncanny liking for the mid-aged bachelor - the reason possibly being in the same league of single men. Besides, there are a lot of other similarities between them: hearts of both of them bleed for the poor and downtrodden, they stand for reservation in perpetuity and, above all, both of them are curiously devoted to their mother. So don't miss the matinee show in the Lok Sabha any time after 12 noon.
