New Delhi (06.01.2023): Sharing rich professional experiences by writing a book is being done by some of the officers. One such initiative was taken by retired IAS officer Ravi Sawhney whose memoire Living a Life was unveiled by former Jammu & Kashmir governor NN Vohra. Former foreign secretary Shyam Saran and former principal secretary to the prime minister SK Misra in 1990, when Chandra Shekhar was the PM, were also present on the occasion.

The former bureaucrat from the Punjab cadre In his book recounts his over 40-year-long career, spanning front-line postings in the trouble-torn state at the peak of insurgency to stints at the UN. The book talks about Punjab going back 54 years. It gives a very good account of the state in its tumultuous years. The essence of what the author has written is that it was possible in the 1960s and 1970s and it is still possible today to be an upright and an honest officer and that if you’re honest, the government of the day will also fall in line.
