Power corridors perplexed over Swami’s tweet: Who dominates PMO?

Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has always something unique and witty to offer via his inimitable tweets. As usual, his tweet today reads “The PMO today is dominated by officials who have an anti-Hindutva mind-set. Some in PMO are in touch with Sharad Pawar and his daughter. The targeting of officials who are patriotic and want to prosecute the corrupt has begun.”

People in power corridors are perplexed about the officials Swami is referring to in this tweet that has gone viral. Highly-placed sources confide that raising doubts over officials in PMO is something tactful and ingenious as in the NaMo regime no one other than the PM Modi himself calls the shots. The irrepressible veteran politician is probably hinting at diluting of Hindutva ideology and growing proximity of Modi with old warhorse Sharad Pawar.

Maharashtra: Is Raj Thackeray a new star on the horizon?

Ever since MNS chief Raj Thackeray came out of the shadow of his political mentor Bala Saheb when Udhdhav Thackeray was entrusted with the responsibility of executive president of Shiv Sena (SS), Raj has not been able to make any dent into Shiv Sena except on a few occasions however he has been able to cause strong political ripples for sure.

BJP leadership prevailed upon Raj Thackeray in 2014 even though he came out in support of Narendra Modi’s prime ministerial candidature. As long as SS was around as BJP’s ally there was no space for MNS. But in 2019 elections, MNS appeared the bitterest critique of Modi unaware of the future development. Since SS has fallen apart, there is a space for MNS among Maharashtra electorates, which is created by the SS joining hands with Congress and NCP.

The MNS had managed to win over 27 seats in BMC, 26 in Kalyan-Dombiwali Municipal Corporation and 40 in Nasik Municipal Corporation in 2014 which has gone down drastically in 2017. It had won 13 assembly seats in the 2009 but was down to one in 2014 and 2019 however it has the potential to do much better. BJP knows it well.

Speculation is rife that Raj Thackeray is inching closure to the BJP and could be the right answer to the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress alliance. Though Raj was present at the swearing in ceremony but MNS’ lone MLA did not vote in favour of SS.

The famous saying that there is no permanent friends and foes in politics has once again come to the rescue of the situation. Few of the BJP leaders feel that had the BJP contested alone or with the MNS, the picture could be different.

In the very background has something started cooking up between the BJP and the MNS?

Ajit Pawar, the biggest beneficiary of Maha crisis: Earns unmatched political immunity?

By IndianMandarins 26 Nov 2019

Whatever the final outcome of the present imbroglio in Maharashtra is, the biggest beneficiary will be Deputy CM Ajit Pawar for sure. Though there is a section in the state cursing him for ditching his uncle and NCP chief Sharad Pawar but junior Pawar seems to have played his cards well.

He has already been given clean chit in nine cases of Rs 70,000 crore irrigation scams immediately after joining hands with the BJP. So even if the government fails floor test in the Maharashtra Assembly, any attempt to implicate him by the BJP will prove to be detrimental and might expose the party for opportunism which is already criticized by its supporters.

So if the move of Ajit Pawar was intentional or due to situation warranted it, there is no doubt about the move being a smart one. Wild guess is also being made that Ajit Pawar is working on the advice of his uncle Sharad Pawar as he knew that even if the Shiv Sena, the NCP and the Congress government is made in Maharashtra, Ajit will be in trouble with law enforcing agencies chasing him but this decision provided him immunity from any such danger.

Modi-Shah duo leaves mainstream media aghast yet again!

By IndianMandarins 23 Nov 2019

The Modi-Shah duo has yet again foxed not only its opponents but also the mainstream media whose lifeline is reporting political events. People wake up to read that the Maharashtra government may be formed anytime after November 24 with Shiv Sena chief Udhdhav Thackrey to lead the government as chief minister for full five year term but even before tea was served to many an old proverb proved to be correct that there is many a slip between the cup and the lip.

Indian mass media thrive on the very dictum of eat politics, drink politics and sleep politics but it miserably failed to foresee the most crucial political development of the country despite 60-70 per cent content offered in any mainstream media being political in nature. They even failed to make out of 45-minutes long meeting between the PM and NCP chief Sharad Pawar when the media witnessed many surprises of the BJP in the past.

It is understood that media failed to get any inkling about abrogation of Article 370, surgical strike and Balakote attack and even the nomination of President but it was really amusing that the formation of Maharashtra government broke just before the swearing in of Devendra Fadnavis which is an out and out political development. The PM tweeted a congratulatory message at 8.14 AM to Maharashtra CM and deputy putting the curtain down on over a fortnight long drama leaving everyone dumbstruck.

Maharashtra mayhem: Is the BJP hitting three birds from one stone?

By IndianMandarins 17 Nov 2019

The top leadership of the BJP – PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah – is full time politicians unlike the opposition that wakes up from the slumber when crisis crops up. What could be the next move of the opposition, the BJP leadership plans its answer well in advance and in one such scheme Shiv Sena -- the former ally of the BJP is trapped.

They might be able to install their CM in Maharashtra but the party might become a history in the politics of Maharashtra. The public perception in the state is suggesting so. It is known to everyone that public perception has been key to the success of the BJP from long. Right from the very moment when SS started demanding chief minister’s post not only social media was abuzz but started working in subtle way but in later phases they are openly accusing the Shiv Sena for harming the Hindutva ideology. Similarly the Congress will be harmed for aligning with the SS. If the SS and Congress are sorted out things would be easy for the BJP in the state.

So much so that even Marathies are going against the Shiv Sena that has predominantly a Marathi identity and the community being their core vote bank. An activist working in Navi Mumbai Netra Daoo said that the Shiv Sena is harming the very ideology that was groomed by Bala Saheb Thackrey. Can they tell people of Maharashtra, how would they deal with contradictions of the ideology of Shiv Sena and the Congress.

The BJP leadership is cashing in on very well on the development which apparently seems to be in the spree of marganalising its allies so they follow their dictate. So the SS is stuck in the trap laid by the BJP. “If the Shiv Sena thinks it can revolt and get the people’s sympathy, they really don’t know the public,” said BJP Party President Amit Shah, who understands people’s pulse very well.

The BJP works on the slogan of its incumbent PM that turn adversity into opportunity and his lieutenant Shah is very well executing his plans. If the alliance government of the Congress, the NCP and Shiv Sena is formed, it will collapse out of its own contradictions. This is what the BJP wants as after that the maneuvering of the BJP not only of parties, leaders but people will start.

Daoo said that people especially their voters are so angry with them that the next election is going to very dear for them as they will find it impossible to justify their decision and all such people will fall for the BJP as mid-term election is not ruled out. Even the BJP would not shy away from it. But lot more development is yet to unfold

United efforts, divided opposition and Power/Pawar formula

By IndianMandarins 27 Aug 2018

The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) is trying to emerge as a formidable opposition ahead of Lok Sabha polls to challenge the BJP rule at the Centre. The UPA allies are quite ambitious and some fissures are emerging in this alliance as there are too many claimants for the top job. Taking advantage of this situation, BJP has started attacking the UPA for not having a Prime Ministerial face.

Former union minister and NCP stalwart Sharad Pawar has started brokering peace. He has brought a pragmatic formula that will make the allies happy and their hope will remain alive to claim for PM’s position. Expressing happiness over Rahul’s denial of prime ministerial ambitions, Pawar suggested that any UPA constituent bagging maximum number of seats in 2019 Lok Sabha polls could claim for the top position. This formula could help all the opposition parties to first contest the polls and secure the highest number of seats before claiming for crucial positions. This formula has the potential to keep the warring groups intact under UPA umbrella till the poll results are out.
