New Delhi (27.07.2024): Amid speculation of change of guard in Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath met BJP general secretary (Organisation) B L Santosh in New Delhi. The UP chief minister stunned everyone with his half an hour long meeting with Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) leader and SP MLA Pallavi Patel, the elder sister of Union minister Anupriya Patel. The younger sister immediately sought time of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Patel had defeated Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya from Sirathu Assembly constituency in Kaushambi district on SP ticket in 2022. The meeting seems to be intended to give message not only to Maurya but also to Anupriya Patel, who was speaking against the UP government on many issues. Besides messaging, the meeting is also important for the 10 Assembly by-election which is expected within six months. Pallavi and Anupriya both claim legacy of their father Sone Lal Patel but they cannot pull through elections their own.
