will-anurag-jain-js-pmo-repatriateAnurag Jain (IAS:1989:MP), currently serving as Joint Secretary in Prime Minister's Office, completes his seven years long deputation tenure with Govt of India today. Power corridors are abuzz that despite few exceptions, extension beyond seven years, the establishment may not give further extension to Anurag Jain. He was, on 30 May 2016, given extension for a period of two years beyond 28 June 2016. He took over as the Joint Secretary in the PMO on January 01, 2015. He had been on central deputation since June 29, 2011. An IAS officer normally gets a minimum of five-year central deputation tenure which is further extendable for two more years. However, the Centre can extend the deputation period further under exceptional circumstances.
