New Delhi (13.11.2024): If some well-placed sources are to be believed the Govt may announce the appointment of Arvindar Singh Sahney as the new Chairman of Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL); a coveted position that fell vacant after Shrikant Madhav Vaidya completed his extended tenure on 31.08.2024. Currently, Satish Kumar Vaduguri (Director, Marketing, IOCL) is holding the additional charge of Chairman of the Fortune 500 company.
A three-member Search-cum-selection-committee, in mid-August, made an attempt to find Vaidya’s successor but it hanged in balance after a handful of insiders as well as outsiders made efforts to stall the process.
Later Indianmandarins learnt that vigilance profiles of four internal candidates were sought namely; Arvind Kumar (Director, Refinery in IOCL); A S Sahni (ED IOCL); Sanjay Parasher (ED, Marketing in IOCL) and Saumitra Srivastava (ED, Marketing and head of Maharashtra region).
Weeks earlier a section of key sources believed that among four candidates Sahney had an edge over others and might be picked as Vaidya’s successor.
Crucial quarters on Tuesday (12.11.2024) late evening started abuzz that the ACC cleared Sahney’s appointment as IOCL Chairman but it could not be authenticated leaving everyone clueless over the supposed development.
Though the outcome of IOCL is still unclear but its noteworthy that today PESB is holding the selection interview for HPCL CMD post thus making it a happening week for top executives in the oil and gas sector.
