Power corridors are abuzz that three names are in consideration zone for the coveted post of Secretary, Tourism. The incumbent Rohit Nandan (IAS:1982:UP), Vinod Jutshi (IAS:1982:RJ) and Girish Shankar (IAS:1982:BH) are being seen as most prospective names for the post. Nandan is currently serving as CMD, Air India, Vinod Jutshi is Dy Election Commissioner (ECI) whereas Girish Shankar is Additional Secretary, Ministry of Tourism.
The coveted post of Secretary, Ministry of Tourism has been running vacant since July 31 vice Lalit K Panwar (Rtd IAS:1979:RJ) after he made his fortune as Chairman, Rajastha PCS. Presently the additional charge of Secretary Tourism lies with Union Culture Secretary.
With the appointment of Ashwani Lohani (IRSME:1980) as Air India CMD indications are clear that Rohit Nandan would be in the first lot of 1982 batch IAS officers to be posted as Secretary.
