The post of Chief Secretary, Govt of Delhi, fell vacant following the appointment of M M Kutty (IAS:1985:UT) as Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs. Since Delhi has come to represent the eternal turf war between the center and Kejriwal, all eyes are focused on the appointment of a new CS.
Many names are circulating around. Among them figure Arvind Ray (IAS:1984:UT), Parimal Rai (IAS:1984:UT), Jalaj Srivastava (IAS:1984:UT), Satbir Bedi (IAS:1986:UT), S N Sahai (IAS:1986:UT), M K Parida (IAS:1986:UT) and Anshu Prakash (IAS:1986:UT).
The prime contender is said to be S N Sahai (IAS:1986:UT). But the way the central government canceled within 20 days his appointment as Additional Secretary, Dept of Commerce, in October last year raises doubts whether Sahai would at all be picked for the top job.
This makes M K Parida a serious contender. And the way he was brought to Delhi Govt as the Home Secretary has fuelled the speculation that it might be part of some well-conceived plan to later push him as CS, Delhi. In case it proves true, both police and bureaucracy chiefs of Delhi would be from Orisa - though a sheer coincidence.
Other names which may be considered are of Arvind Ray, Parimal Rai, Jalaj Srivastava, and Satbir Bedi.
