New Delhi (13.12.2025): Vamsi Rama Mohan Burra, the current Director (Projects) at Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), has been recommended by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) to be the next Chairman & Managing Director of the country’s largest power transmission utility.
The official recommendation was made by the selection board on Saturday following a crucial interview process in which Burra competed against eight other candidates.
Subject to the requisite vigilance clearances and final approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), Burra will take charge of the Maharatna PSU, succeeding the incumbent CMD, R K Tyagi, who is scheduled to retire on March 31, 2026. Burra's elevation, if approved, signals a continuity in leadership, with a seasoned internal candidate taking the top spot at PGCIL.
