New Delhi (28.04.2021): Forgetting the training given and culture imparted at the LBSNAA, West Tripura District Magistrate and IAS officer Sailesh Kumar Yadav not only disrupted a marriage at Manikya Court in Tripura but also misbehaved with family members of the groom and the bride as well as the guests. Bringing shame to the IAS fraternity, the DM reportedly, according to the scenes in a video circulating on social media, behaved as if he were a third-rate thug or a guttersnipe. Even though he has apologized, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has asked Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar to submit a report on the events that transpired. The people at large, including leaders across the political spectrum, seem to have rejected his apology on the ground that the damage done by him is irreparable. A group of MLAs has said Yadav's senseless action has caused "the bride became Tagna Bhrashta' which is an extremely inauspicious thing according to Hindu faith and rules of marriage". To assuage the public outrage over the issue, West Tripura MP and BJP leader Pratima Bhowmik is said to have visited the bride’s relatives and spoken to them over the incident. “The administration is doing what’s needed to break the chain of transmission of coronavirus. But what happened last night is most undesirable. It should not have happened,” the MP observed. Tripura royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, in a FB post, called for a thorough inquiry into the incident. Besides being the owner of the Manikya court where the incident occurred, he heads an outfit called TIPRA Motha that won the tribal council elections held recently. Ruling BJP MLAs including Sudip Roy Barman, Ashish Kumar Saha, and Sushanta Choudhury have advised the Chief Secretary to remove the DM.
