Gujarat on its toes, raises Covid beds for 95,000 patients

April 28. 2021: Gujarat has mobilized and integrated its resources to augment the provision of hospital beds for the treatment of patients suffering from the Chinese Xi Jinping virus.While these beds numbered 42,870 on 15 March 2021, of which 20,000 were added during the last year, they doubled to 94,313 by 24 April. Of these, oxygen-equipped beds rose to 52,000 from 16,000.Adding to the state government's efforts, Arcelor Mittal Steel Plant has also established 250-bed Covid beds. It was set up and inaugurated within 72 hours and in the next 8-10 days, the company plans to increase the number of beds to 1,000.Gujarat's efforts are considered the first of their kind among the state governments.
