New Delhi (06.03.2026): The day Bihar CM Nitish Kumar filed nomination for Rajya Sabha President of India on Thursday late evening announced a major gubernatorial reshuffle involving several states and Union Territories, including Delhi, Ladakh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh and Nagaland w.e.f. from the date respective appointees assume charge of their offices.
The big gubernatorial reset signals a further major overhaul in the top structure of the government led by NaMo-Shah.
Former Indian ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu (Retd IFS: 1988) has been named as the new LG of Delhi. Sandhu contested in 2024 LS polls as BJP candidate from Amritsar. Delhi LG Vinai Kumar Saxena, has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh vice Kavinder Gupta who has been shifted to Himachal Pradesh as the new Governor.
In another move, Shiv Pratap Shukla, currently Governor of Himachal Pradesh, has been appointed as the Governor of Telangana. Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has been shifted as the Governor of Maharashtra.
Nand Kishore Yadav has been appointed as the Governor of Nagaland, while retired Army officer Lt. General (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain has been named as the Governor of Bihar.
Further, RN Ravi, the Governor of Tamil Nadu, has been appointed as the Governor of West Bengal while Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, currently Governor of Kerala, has been given the additional charge of the Governor of Tamil Nadu.
