In a surprising move the NaMo administration appointed the incumbent Telecom Secretary J S Deepak (IAS:1982:UP) as OSD in the Department of Commerce with immediate effect by upgrading a Director level post to the rank of Secretary for a period till 31 May 2017.
Simultaneously, he has been named as next Ambassador/Permanent Representative of India to the World Trade Organisation, Gevena with effect from 01 June 2017. He will continue in Geneva till his superannuation on 31 July 2018.
