A team led by Telangana Chief
Secretary Shailendra Kumar Joshi (IAS:1984:TG) in coordination with Government Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma (Retd IAS:1982:TG)
has been entrusted with the preparation of draft proposals for reorganisation
of various State government departments dealing with similar subjects. The draft proposals may recommend
mergers or scrapping of some departments. The final report will be
submitted to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao before Sankranthi festival. Indianmandarins has learned that
the existing 32 departments are likely to be brought down to 18-20 through
merger or complete removal from the list. As per the new proposals being
considered, departments dealing with same subjects will be merged and will be
headed by a Minister and a senior IAS officer of Principal Secretary rank. At the next level, the government
is likely to have a couple of IAS officers to assist the Principal Secretary in
case of bigger departments. These IAS officers may discharge
their duties as both the secretary and the commissioner of the departments
concerned.
