Suresh Kumar may be retained in CMO: Punjab Govt in no hurry

In the wake of the ouster of Super Chief Secretary Suresh Kumar (Retd IAS:1983: PB) from the post of Chief Principal Secretary to the Punjab CM, the State Govt. has started weighing the options to retain Kumar in the CMO. It is said that CM Amrinder Singh may opt for going slow and so any immediate change in the CMO is ruled out.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the standing order that gave sweeping powers to the Chief Principal Secretary is being amended in the light of the HC verdict. The aforesaid provision drafted by Capt Amarinder Singh had made Suresh Kumar an all-powerful authority in the top power structure of the state.
It may be noted that under the current arrangement in the CMO post HC decision, Tejvir Singh (IAS:1994: PB) is functioning as the Principal Secretary to the CM; Gurkirat Kirpal Singh (IAS:2001: PB) is the Special Principal Secretary; and Dr. Amrit Kaur Gill is the Deputy Principal Secretary.
