New Delhi (06.10.2023): As Indianmandarins had reported
early morning today the New Delhi establishment endorsed the recommendation of
Search-Cum-Selection-Committee and appointed Sanjay Kumar Jain (IRTS: 1990) as
Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Indian Railway Catering & Tourism
Corporation (IRCTC). Currently, he is Principal Chief Commercial Manager (PCCM)
in Northern Railway. Prior to PCCM assignment he worked as Joint Secretary in
the Department of Public Enterprises in Govt of India. Over a dozen candidates were interviewed by SCSC on October
5, 2023. The CMD post in IRCTC was vacant since January 2021 after
the retirement of Mahendra Pratap Maal (IRAS: 1984). It may be underlined that PESB’s attempt to select Maal’s
successor on 17.05.2021 remained unsuccessful after only four out of seven
short listed candidates turned up for selection interview and PESB did not find
any one of them suitable. So SCSC route for selection of the CMD was adopted. (Also Read) Search Committee interacts with over a dozen candidates; IRCTC may get new CMD soon
