New Delhi (07.10.2023): Indian history is full of stories of valour but there are certain historical figures who did not get what they deserved. Hemchandra Vikramaditya, whom history books refer as Hemu, is one such emperor of Delhi. He was not given justice for the role played by him in the Indian History. Daughter of First Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kranti Trivedi (Rani Ma) gives a vivid description of Hemchandra Vikramaditya’s time and achievements in her book Anokha Aarohi, a romantic story of the great warrior and commander of armies of Islam Shah.
Hemchandra Vikramaditya eventually became Emperor albeit the last Hindu Emperor of Delhi. He was coronated as Vikramaditya (Emperor) on October 7, 1556. Encouraged by this book and the fact that Hemchandra Vikramaditya’s name in Indian History was so little known, it would be a tribute to remember the great warrior on the anniversary of his Coronation as Delhi emperor.
Although he was as much an Emperor as any other even if for a short period of time, “I felt it my duty to take up the issue with the Government of India. The Government of India, at my request, agreed to issue a beautiful commemorative postal stamp on Hemchandra Vikramaditya. Being the proponent of the project, I had the pleasant responsibility to find a suitable sponsor. The Government of Haryana has so kindly agreed to sponsor the release. And rightly so as Hemchandra Vikramaditya was from Rewari in Haryana,” said Vishwapati Trivedi (Retd IAS:1977:MP), son of Kranti Trivedi.
The Postal Stamp and the reprinted paperback version of Rani Ma’s book Hemchandra Vikramaditya- Anokha Aarohi, will be launched on October 7, 2023 in a function Presided over by Manohar Lal, CM, Haryana with opening comments by Vishwapati Trivedi.
