Prabhat Kumar Sinha on Saturday took charge as the new CMD of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL). He succeeds Tapas Kumar Nag, who superannuated on 30th September 2017.
Sinha previously served as Director (Technical) in South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd (CIL). It was under his leadership that Jayant OCP of NCL registered the highest-ever single day coal production of 2.5 million tonne in FY'11.
Sinha brings with him a diversified experience of more than 35 years in open-cast and under-ground coal mining, Sinha was working as, prior to his current stint. Sinha has also represented Indian Coal Industry in the World Mining Congress at Poland in 2008; and at Istanbul (Turkey) in 2011.
