The NaMo administration on July 03 announced the promotion of Jatinder Kumar Sharma (IPS:1982:UT) to hold Director General rank in Govt of India.
For Sharma, it proved to be a double promotion as he was promoted as Additional Director General of Police w.e.f 26 November 2010 and simultaneously promoted as DGP w.e.f 01 May 2014.
In November 2017, seventeen years after being accused of corruption, Sharma was given a clean chit by a Delhi court, which found no substance in the CBI's version that the officer held assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Special CBI judge Sarita Birbal acquitted Sharma of the allegations under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Sharma, immediate junior to the then Delhi CP Alok Verma' could stake a claim to the top post but the CBI case had virtually shut the doors for his career prospects.
Having acquitted from the allegations and post-promotion Sharma has one complete year to aspire a better career prospect.
