As Indianmandarins had reported on 19 January 2017 (Web-link below) the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet yesterday cleared the appointment of D K Sharma (MD, HPPCL) to the post of Chairman, Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB). The post fell vacant on 24 September 2015 but S K Sharma was continued as Chairman on an extension. Reportedly Naveen Kumar (ED, PFC) was also in consideration zone as he was listed number two on the panel of two. Indianmandarins had (on 19 January 2017) reported earlier that learned that though the Search-cum-selection-committee had decided the panel much earlier but it held back from recommending the names due to the Assembly elections in Punjab. Further, the Power Ministry was requested to go slow by other stakeholder states like Punjab, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh. Sources said D K Sharma has grabbed the attention of selection committee for his proven professional track record. Sharma was, on 29 December last year, honored with the prestigious 'CBIP Award' for Best Performing Utility in Hydro Power Sector. The CBIP, (Central Board of Irrigation and Power) had selected him for the award for his over 30 years of association with the power sector.
