The maintenance of records of its officials at CPSUs seems to be in a pathetic condition. Please look at what has been happening. The selection interviews for Coal India Director (Personnel and IR), which was scheduled for 05 July 2017, was postponed on account of confusion in the seniority issue. Reportedly, CIL informed the authorities concerned at the last moment that Majumdar who was shortlisted in the last slot meant for the internal category, was junior to R P Yadav who couldn't get shortlisted as he was earlier declared junior to Majumdar. The interview may take place once the seniority issue of these two officers is resolved. The post fell vacant when R Mohan Das was on 31 March 2017 dismissed 62 days ahead of his scheduled retirement (i.e. 31 May 2017). A similar situation marked the selection interview for Director (GAIL) las year in August when a scheduled selection interview for the company's Director (Marketing) was canceled at the last moment because the seniority matter of two officials could not be settled before the planned interview.
